About Us

Music 101 is a small mom and pop shop.  Doug and Kerri take pride in the services provided and want to tell you about ourselves.

We have known each other since 1974 and went to high school together.  Doug played guitar and Kerri played piano.

Doug learned from established guitar players such as Mark St. John from Kiss and others.  He valued his lessons and now teaches others from learning the hard way on his own most of the time.  

Kerri begged to take piano lessons at the age of 9 after falling in love with the piano in 3rd grade.  After 5 long years of weekly lessons (summers off), she could play any written music on sight and accompanied small music groups in high school.  Later in life, she learned music theory and how to play from a simple chord sheet or lead sheet to accompany others or sing and play solo.

Our approach is to help our students understand music so they don't have to keep learning over and over.  We try to make it fun and tailor our lessons to each individual student.
